

Graveside services for Dale LaFate Halsey, 78, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Bro. Vic Bass officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Halsey was born August 3, 1934 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of the late Edna Mae (Mayberry) and James LaFate Halsey. He passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mr. Halsey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a retired pipe inspector and had worked for AMF Tubescope for 20 years, then Petco and ended his career when he retired from Weatherford, Inc. He was a charter member of IPIA (International Pipe Inspectors Association) and had served as president. He served his country in the United States Navy, where he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and an honorable discharge. He obtained the rank of AT3. He traveled extensively during his working career and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spent many hours trail riding. Mr. Halsey was a member of Faith Family Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Halsey of Lufkin; daughters, Teresa Oliver and Tammie Halsey, both of Lufkin; grandchildren, Chris Lucas and wife Emily, Victor Carpenter and Brooke Carpenter; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and a number of other family members and friends.
Members of Faith Family Church will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
