Memorial services for Dixon Earl Martinez, 93, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with military honors rendered by the United States Air Force. Inurnment will follow in the Cemetery of The Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii at a later date.
Mr. Martinez was born May 28, 1923 in White City, Texas, the son of the late Ada Frances (Sanchez) and Aberteno Martinez. He passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Martinez was retired from the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country during World War II. He served in the Air Force for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Cecilia Martinez of Colorado; daughter, Margaret Martinez of Colorado; great-nephew and caregiver, Michael Juarez of Lufkin; and numerous other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
