Memorial services for Eldredge “Bill” Bernel Bailey, 88, of Lufkin, will be held on Friday, July 5th 2019 at 3:00 pm at Gipson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
Mr. Bailey was born July 25, 1930 in Wells, Texas, the son of the late Claudia (Davis) and Curtis Bailey. He passed away June 25th, 2019 in Lufkin.
Mr. Bailey was a Christian, and was loved by all who knew him. He joined the United States Navy at the young age of 17, and served during the Korean War in the 1950’s. Mr. Bailey retired from the federal government, and later went on to become a land developer, entrepreneur and opened the first “Honky Tonk” in Angelina County.
Survivors include his daughters, Loretta David and husband Melvin of Lufkin and Beverley Fenley and husband Gary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Charlene Bailey of Lufkin; and Jessica Bailey McKnight and husband James of Fort Worth; his grandchildren, Terry Rawlinson, Cody O’Quinn, Kyle Miles, Dillon McKnight, Jordan Ellis, Cole McKnight; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Marvis Nell Smith of Huntsville, Ima Jean Montes of Kingwood and Melva Lynn Van Schoubroek of Lufkin.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his sister, Athalene Burkhalter; and granddaughter, Kimberly O’Quinn.
