Services for Everett Lee “Bill” Duty, 86, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel, in Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 5205 S. First Street, with interment following in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Everett was born June 27, 1929 in Jacksonville, Texas, the son of the late Juanita (Scruggs) and Julius Cecil Duty. He passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Nacogdoches Medical Center (Hospice).
Everett proudly enlisted and served in the United States Navy. His service during the Korean War consisted of being recalled to serve an additional tour before discharge. He retired from Gulf/Chevron Oil after 30 years of service. Everett’s passion that he dedicated much of his time to involved coaching basketball, baseball, and football while residing in the Oklahoma City area.
Survivors include his sister, Patricia Carr-Bradshaw and husband Curtis of Tyler; brother, Jerry Duty and wife Kathie of Beaumont; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Ballenger Duty; sister, Janice Y’Barbo; and brother, J. C. Duty, Jr.
