Anne “Irene” Rogers of Nacogdoches passed away on June 9, 2023, at the age of 84 years old. She was born September 4, 1938, in rural East Texas. Irene was the third child born to the late Auren Wright “Jack” Fitzgerald (1999) and Annie Looney Fitzgerald (2001). In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Ersell Rogers (2021), her daughter Diane Denise Rogers (2020), her son Dale Ersell Rogers (2017), her brother Ruben Albert Fitzgerald (2015), her son David Marsell Rogers (2005), her grandson Cody Rogers (2002), and her brother Bennie Roy Fitzgerald (1982).
Irene had a generous spirit. She fed everyone who looked hungry and housed anyone who needed a place to sleep. This ranged from friends and acquaintances of her children to complete strangers. She would give her last dollar to someone she thought may need it more than her. She never said no to accommodating a sleepover for her grandkids and their friends. She loved animals, and happily accepted any strays that came along. She loved to fish, garden, farm and raise livestock.
Irene met and married Ersell Rogers in the mid-1950’s. They soon began their family, having a total of five children: Travis, Darlene, David, Diane and Dale. Irene and Ersell remained married for over six decades, until his passing in 2021.
Irene is survived by her two oldest children, Travis Dersell Rogers and Zelda “Darlene” Molandes. In addition, her eldest brother John Calvin Fitzgerald, and two younger sisters, Shirley Fatheree and Jackie Fitzgerald. As well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Late Fragment by Raymond Carver
And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.
