

Janet H. Burger passed away at the age of 91. She was born January 20, 1925 in Cadillac, Michigan to Vivian Thompson Heustis and Warren Clifford Heustis. Janet grew up in the twin cities of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor, Michigan. At age 19, she and her family moved to New Orleans with her step-father, Ted Snyder. She lived there until she met and married Thomas Edward Burger, Sr. They were married in Reno, Nevada. Tom and Janet were married for 69 wonderful years.
They are survived by four children, son, Thomas E. Burger, Jr. and wife Debbie of Beaumont; son, John C. Burger and wife Marilyn of Kingwood; daughter, Suzanne Spinks-Grimm and husband Don of Colleyville; and daughter, Nanette L. Viator and husband Len of Beaumont. Janet was also blessed with 10 wonderful grandchildren, Clayton Burger, Adam Burger, Cara Millas, Nickolas Spinks, Chelsea Davis, Matt Burger, Jonathan Spinks, Natalie Viator, Kadie Spinks, and Nathan Viator; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Beulah Hutson of Fountain Valley, California.
Janet and her husband Tom lived in Beaumont, Texas for 28 years where they raised their four children and then relocated to Diboll, Texas for 33 years. Janet was a nurse in Beaumont and worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital and also the Baptist Hospital in the surgery department. She also did private practice nursing for Dr. Vardiman of Beaumont. Later in her life, Janet got her real estate license from Lamar University and went to work for Sherry Laurent Real Estate Company.
Janet was a very strong woman of faith and character. Her love of family was one of her greatest attributes and one of her many outstanding qualities. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved and cherished each and every one of her family members and was an inspiration and a blessing to all. She will truly be missed, but her legacy will live on. Love you, Mom!!!
