

Jerrel William Whitworth, 86, of Lufkin, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born November 30, 1937 in Polk County, Texas to John and Geneva Whitworth. His career was that of a medical technologist, and was a military veteran in the United States Air Force. He volunteered his services giving more than 5,000 hours at the VA Hospital, Houston, Texas.
He was the beloved husband of Carol Jeanette Whitworth with whom he met in April 1975 and were married in May 11, 1977. Together they shared four wonderful children.
He is survived by his children, Suzanne Martin and husband, Donald, Connie Haas and husband, Greg, Johnny Whitworth and wife, Laura, Angela Thigpen and husband, Shane; eleven grandchildren, Michelle, Wayne, Timothy, Holly, Joshua, Ashlie, Eric, Jamie, Sam, Mary Katherin, and JoAnna; twelve great-grandchildren, Lauren, John, Garret, Trey, Alyssa, Anna Claire, Jansen, John, Macy, Leo, William, and Quinn. He is also survived by twelve sisters and brothers and nine sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Surviving brothers are, Larry, John, Dennis, Jimbo, and Bill; surviving sisters are, Mary, Carolyn, Patsy, Barbara, Katherine, Debbie, and Jenny; brothers-in-law, Don Cryer, Jim Mainer, Rusty Hughes, and Eddie Lewis; sisters-in-law, Jan Whitworth, Patricia Mainer, Bonnie Boartz, Betty Ann Whitworth, and Diann Whitworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Geneva Whitworth; four brothers, James Arthur, Dick Whitworth, and infant twins; mother and father-in-law, Doris and Curtis Pillow; brothers-in-law, Thomas Boartz, Mike Toney, John Martin; sisters-in-law, Barbara Boartz Wigstone, Ann Whitworth, and Eva Whitworth.
Jerrel was the first born child followed by 16 siblings.
Special mentions for numerous nieces and nephews; great and great-great-nieces and nephews he so lovingly kept an interest in and enjoyed immensely.
Special mentions of our brother, Dennis Ray Whitworth, for his tireless devotion in our hours of need. A better brother and brother-in-law no one could ask for.
I pray that we can all find comfort in knowing he lived his life to the fullest and loved each and every one of you dearly. He is safely in the hands of our Lord God.
In accordance with Jerrel’s specific wishes there will not be any services, and after his cremation, his ashes are to be buried in his family cemetery at Mount Zion Cemetery in Chester, Texas.
