

Mass of the Christian Burial for Jose Sarmiento, 80, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Cortes, M.S., Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the family receiving friends and loved ones from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Church.
Mr. Sarmiento was born May 27, 1935 in Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of the late Sophia (Ibarra) and Pedro Sarmiento. He passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 in a local hospital.
Mr. Sarmiento was a millrite for Temple Industries for 25 years. He was very social and friendly and loved visiting people and helping others. He loved and adored his grandchildren – they were his joy. He enjoyed taking trips back to Mexico. Mr. Sarmiento was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Domitila Sarmiento of Lufkin; daughters, Maria Consepcion Sarmiento of Lufkin, Letisia Solis Sarmiento and husband Ricardo of Lufkin, and Veronica Sarmiento of Houston; grandchildren, Ricardo Solis, Jr., Josie Danielle Solis and Karla Irene Solis; brothers, Leon Sarmiento of Zacatecas, Mexico and Rogaciano Sarmiento of Diboll; sisters, Agustina Sarmiento, Pabla Cordero, Elena Gamboa and Maria Escobedo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sarmiento was preceded in death by his son, Jose Sarmiento, Jr.; and brothers, Antonio Sarmiento and Juan Sarmiento.
Pallbearers will be Ricardo Solis, Ricardo Solis, Jr., Leonardo Sosa, Luis Hernandez, Urbano Sarmiento and Feliberto Ibarra.
