

Laura Leticia (Diaz) Esparza passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 59. She was born on February 1, 1966, in Batesville, Texas, to Maria de la Luz and Ponciano Diaz. Laura was a loving, faithful, and compassionate presence in the lives of all who knew her.
Laura dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, where her generous spirit and selfless love were evident in all she did. Her marriage to Jorge Esparza was a true testament to her deep commitment to family, love, and faith.
A woman of strong Catholic faith, Laura lived her life devoted to God and the Church. She found great purpose and comfort in her faith and was actively involved in church life, including her service with the Mesa del Hermano at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Her faith guided her actions and was reflected in her kindness, service, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Laura enjoyed cooking, playing Lotería, shopping, traveling, hosting gatherings, and organizing church activities. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure and for whom she would do anything.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jorge Esparza; her daughter, Mirsa Luna Lopez, and her husband, Jose C. Lopez; her son, Martin Luna, Jr., and his wife, Isabel Prieto; her beloved grandchildren, Dayenara Lopez, Israel Lopez, Mariel M. Lopez, and Khaleesi Luna. She is also survived by her sister, Gricelda Diaz Vargas, and her husband, Felipe Vargas; her brother, Ponciano Diaz, and his wife, Jessica Quiroz; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Ponciano Diaz.
Visitation will be held on January 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gipson Funeral Home, 1515 South Chestnut, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 100 Maynard Street, Diboll, Texas 75941. Laura will be laid to rest at Forest Haven Cemetery in Diboll.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cristian Lopez, Israel Lopez, Martin Luna, Jr., Ponciano Diaz, Jr., Ponciano Diaz III, and Andres Diaz.
Laura’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
