Margaret "Marie Wilson" Mitchell

Services for Margaret "Marie Wilson" Mitchell, 86, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Withem officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Margaret Marie Wilson Mitchell, the daughter of the late Rosa (Shaw) and Roscoe Carr, was born September 16, 1926 in Mt. Vernon, Texas. She passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Mitchell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was very involved in community activities, such as the Salvation Army, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Salvation Army and her church. She also enjoyed gardening and being with her family.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Woody Wilson and Michelle of Paris, Texas, Kenneth Wilson and Pam, Jackie Wilson and Betty, all of Lufkin; son, Ernest "Shorty" Wilson of Lufkin; daughter, Donna Preston of Diboll; brothers, Floyd Carr and Willie Lee Carr; sister, Margaret Newman; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Verlon Wilson; sons, Rick Wilson, John Ray Wilson; William Earl Wilson; and brothers, J. W. Carr and Earl Carr.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Kenneth Wilson, Jr., Greg Wilson, Mike Eckles, Michael Gonzales, Donnie Wilson and Shane Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Wilson and Ronnie Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
