

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2014 for Maria Del Rosario Garcia, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Diboll, with Father Ariel Cortes celebrant. Interment will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening in Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel.
She was born on October 22, 1912 in Monterrey, N. L., Mexico. Mrs. Maria’s hometown was Weslaco, TX, but she had resided for the last number of years with her daughter in Diboll. She passed away November 8, 2014 at her home.
She was a loving mom and grandmother who enjoyed being with her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She loved to pray and teach her grandchildren how to pray. She enjoyed doing craft work when she was able, and she loved to go to parties where she enjoyed dancing and visiting with friends.
Survivors are daughters, Teodora (Lola) Villanueva and Andrea Acosta; grandchildren, Domingo and Bertha Villanueva, Oscar and Sandra Villanueva, Yvette and Mario A. De La Cruz, Yvonne Villanueva and Craig Andrew and Erica Acosta; great-grandchildren, Raphael and Veronica Villanueva, Roy and Lyliana Villanueva, Angel, Adrian, Andres, Elena and Monica Villanueva, Elizabeth and Angelica De La Cruz, Valeria and Emalee Ramos, Garrett, Lilly and Layla Acosta; great-great-grandchildren, Nayeli, Omar and Amaris Villanueva; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Rafael Garcia; her children, Guadalupe (Lupito) Garcia and Josefina Garcia; her parents, Andres Guerra and Juanita Gonzalez; her brothers, Manuel, Polo, Isabel, Juan and Hilario (Lalo) Guerra; sisters, Angela De Leon and Nemecia Cardosa; sons-in-law, Domingo Villanueva, Sr. and Jaime Acosta; and grandchildren, Eric Acosta and twins, Christopher and Jacob Acosta, and Anahi Thalia Villanueva.
Pallbearers are Domingo Villanueva, Jr., Oscar Villanueva, Raphael Villanueva, Roy Villanueva, Craig Andrew Acosta and Mario A. De La Cruz.
