Martha Jo Evans

Martha was born June 11, 1942 in Lufkin, Texas to Oscar and Maria Burrous. She passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at her home in Diboll, Texas.

Martha was an excellent seamstress. She would often spend her time sewing for the Diboll cheerleaders in her younger days.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Martinez; son, Steven Evans both of Diboll. She is also survived by grandsons, Joshua Moreno and wife Amanda, Joel Moreno and April, and granddaughter, Kathy Moreno all of Diboll. 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shelia and Ray Griffith of Lufkin; and brother-in-law, Bobby Mayhar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cloyce G. Evans; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Alice and Henry Evans; sister, Barbara Mayhar; brother, Donald Oscar Burrous of Lufkin; great-grandson, Jacob Moreno; and great-great-grandchild, Emilliano Zapata.

Pallbearers will be Joel Moreno, Colton Moreno, Dalton Moreno, Raymond “Pookie” Glover Jr., Trae Brooks, Hunter Burrous.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Moreno, Fernandas Brooks, James Ray Griffith, Bobby Mayhar, Charles Lee Evans, and Brad Mayhar.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
