Martha Lakey

Martha Nell Lakey, 79, of Longview, the daughter of the late Essie Irene (Bridwell) and Ernest Edward Moore, was born February 6, 1932 in Shelby County, Texas and passed away June 18, 2011 in a nursing facility in Longview.

Mrs. Lakey was an accountant for many years with Sysco Food Company. She loved to read and sew, and she also enjoyed cooking and watching "cop shows" on TV. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Dwight Squyres of Longview; granddaughter, Tabithia Squyres; two great-grandchildren, Nathin Chong and Olivia Jones; daughter-in-law, Joyce Lakey of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Sue Cromeens and Leon Hays of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, J. T. Lakey; son, James Lakey; brother-in-law, Frank Cromeens; and niece, Becky Wells.

Services for Mrs. Lakey will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Bro. Jimmy Hedges officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning prior to service time at Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
