Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29th at 2:00 PM for Martha Ann Lee at Gipson Funeral Home with Jason Trick officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30 to 2:00 on the day of the service. Graveside services will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Trinity County, Texas.
Her family is sad to announce the passing of Martha Ann Lee who reached the age of nearly 101 when she passed on December 20, 2018 while living in the Regent Care Center in the Woodlands. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend that always had a wonderful story to tell and a fantastic memory about all the happenings over the many years she lived in Angelina County and the East Texas area. All who knew her will miss her wonderful smile, beautiful laugh and the twinkle in her eye.
Martha Ann Taylor was born in Liberty County in the town of Romayor, Texas on January 13, 1918. She was the daughter of Mary Madoza and Columbus Paul Taylor and had several half-brothers and sisters.
Martha grew up in Wee Walkey and Seminole, Oklahoma and Trinity County, Texas for much of her young life until moving to Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas, where she resided for more than 65 years. She married L. J. Lee in 1933 and they had two children, Peggy Myrle Boone Pittsinger and El Ray Lee, both which came to be successful real estate agents in Angelina County.
Martha and her husband, LJ were active members of Herty Church of Christ for many years. Martha held onto her faith throughout her life and continued to attend church for as long as she was able.
Martha (Granny as many of us called her) was an Avon representative and her beautiful, wrinkle free face proved it. She established herself and was able to support her family after the passing of her husband LJ Lee in 1980 after 47 years of marriage.
She also had a natural green thumb, was an avid gardener and could grow anything as evidenced by her beautiful yard always full of gorgeous flowers.
Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband LJ Lee, her daughter, Peggy Myrle Boone Pittsinger in 2003 and her son, El Ray Lee, in 2014. Survivors of the family are granddaughters Donna Smart and husband, David of Longview, TX; Debbie Boone of Lufkin, TX; Jennifer Lee Dowell and husband, Chris Dowell of Spring, TX; grandson, Doug Boone and wife, Jennifer of Center, TX; Jeffery Lee of California great-grandchildren, Dawndrea Huffman and husband, Richard of Hallsville, TX; Karissa Wallace and husband, John of Huntington, TX; JennaKate Boone and Ian Boone of Center, TX; Shandria Allison and husband TJ of San Antonio, TX; Jim Few of Midland, TX; Kayla Stone and husband Slater of The Woodlands, TX; Carri-Ann Clebosky and husband Garret of The Woodlands, TX; and numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
