Richard Thomas Crawford

Funeral service for Richard Thomas Crawford, 79, of Mansfield, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday October 3, 2025 in the Elwyn Marcus Gipson Chapel of Garden of Memories Memorial Park. A time at the graveside will follow. Visitation with family will precede the service at 10:00 AM.

Richard passed away on Friday September 26, 2025 surrounded by family. Richard was born to Gene and Florence Crawford of Akron, Ohio on August 24, 1946. He was drafted into the Army and served for almost 2 years. He met the love of his life during his time of service to our country. After marrying Cheryl, he went on to attend Southwest Texas State University where he earned a Bachelors degree in Accounting. Upon graduation, Richard went to work for American National Insurance Company where he spent his entire professional career; beginning at entry level and retiring over 30 years later as an officer of the company. During this time, they were blessed with two children – Michael who died as an infant and Rebecca. After retirement, Richard and Cheryl enjoyed many adventures seeing the world via cruise ship. They were again blessed when Becky married Doyle and were able to enjoy their three grandchildren – Olivia, Marek, and Bennett.

Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl Crawford; son Michael Crawford; and parents Gene and Florence Crawford. He is survived by his daughter Rebecca Mathews and husband Doyle of Midlothian; grandchildren Olivia, Marek, and Bennett Mathews; and brother David Crawford of Akron, Ohio; as well as many friends and loved ones.

Pallbearers will be Doyle Mathews, John Hixson, James Owen, Bruce Pavelka, Marek Mathews.
