

Ronald Onard Chumley, born on August 18, 1947, in Lufkin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024, Father's Day, to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old.
A proud Lufkin High School graduate, Class of 1966, Ronald went on to pursue higher education at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he earned a degree in biology and business. A 6th generation Texan, he initially dedicated his career to teaching high school education at Hudson I.S.D before pursuing his passion for helping others by becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Ronald was a sociable individual who had a genuine love for people, and he never encountered a stranger or neighbor without genuinely loving to learn from them. He was a devoted husband to Rebecca Chumley, his wife of 57 years. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Stephen Chumley and his wife Janel Chumley, Alison Chumley and her husband Scott Lang, and Angela Chumley and her husband Sunil Daluvoy. He was also the proud grandfather of Evelyn Chumley, Juniper Chumley, and Anisa Daluvoy. He was a loving father and grandfather who always put his family first and cherished every moment spent with them.
A devout Christian, Ronald lived his life with unwavering faith and compassion. He was known for his kind heart, wisdom, and dedication, touching many lives through his professional and personal endeavors. He will be remembered for his compassion, integrity, and the positive impact he made on those around him.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Onard and Myrtle Chumley. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, his children Stephen, Alison, and Angela, his grandchildren Evelyn, Juniper, and Anisa, his brother Mickey Chumley and his wife Brenda Chumley, his sister-in-law Sharon Carrington, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law James Ray and Gayla Hudson, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
James Ray Hudson, his brother-in-law, will be providing the eulogy at a private service to celebrate his life.
Ronald will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
