Services for Shirley Elaine Allen, 85, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at her residence, with Bro. James Whittlesey officiating. Interment will follow in Wallace Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born February 7, 1936 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of the late William Jackson and Lema (Nunn) Gibson. She passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Allen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed listening to music, tending her roses, feeding the fish, and spending time with family. She and Leonard spent their lives together collaborating with each other, building homes and neighborhoods and helping others. Shirley was Leonard’s heart, his mainstay and strength.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Leonard M. Allen; children, Beverly Johnson, daughter and son-in-law, Andra and Greg McLarty and Elaine Allen; grandchildren, Carl Johnson III and Christina Johnson; brother-in-law, Jimmie Simms; nephews and their wives, Greg and Elizabeth Simms and Stan and Shauna Simms.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Ann Simms.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at her residence.
