

Services for Woodie-Lou Trout Hicks, 82, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Stephen Lantis officiating. A private family interment will
follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hicks was born on March 6, 1930 in Hollywood, California, the daughter of the late Mary Kathryn (Wessling) Trout and Edward Percy Trout. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2013.
Woodie-Lou moved to Lufkin in 1943 when she was 13 years old and graduated from Lufkin High School in 1947. She graduated from Texas Christian University and remained a loyal TCU Alumni. It was during their college days that Woodie met her husband Bull. She resided in Lufkin with her husband and family. Mrs. Hicks was the original owner of "The Very Thing", a retail wedding registry and gift shop, as well as being an avid photographer for local social magazines "The Journey","Bscene" and many charity gala's. Woodie-Lou loved spending time with family and friends at her beachfront condominium in Galveston. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her grandchildren lovingly called her "Happy Grandma". Mrs. Hicks was an active member of the Junior League of Lufkin and First Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Kendall Kathryn Hicks Nidoh of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Edward Alvin and Sissy Hicks of Dallas; grandchildren, Lindsey Kathryn Hicks, Matthew Paul Nidoh, Andrew Stephen Nidoh, and Courtney Amanda Hicks; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; and a host of wonderful friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, R. M. "Bull" Hicks in 1991; and sister, Lynne Elizabeth Trout Stout.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Hicks' memory may be made to First Christian Church, 1300 S. First Street, Lufkin, TX 75901; or the Bull Hicks L.H.S. Alumni Association Memorial Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 150837, Lufkin, Texas 75915.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Nidoh, Andrew Nidoh, Ernest Rowe, Thomas Moore, Brian Smoot, Vince Treadwell, K. C. Baker and Buford Abeldt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Johnson, Joe Denman, Jr. and Bill Spencer.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
