

Born and raised in Lynn, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late John and Blanche (Turowska) Winiarczyk. She attended St. Michael’s School, later graduating from Lynn Classical High School in 1937. Agnes then worked at the Lynn TB League.
Following her marriage to Kenneth in 1943, Agnes lived in North Carolina and Nahant while he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army here and abroad.
Agnes’ great loves were her husband and family. She was a wonderful hostess and especially delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends. She loved arranging flowers from her beautiful gardens. Agnes was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed golf, reading, playing Scrabble, and working on crossword puzzles. She especially derived great joy from being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Agnes was a woman whose smile, cheerfulness and good humor brightened the lives of everyone she met.
She leaves four devoted children, Susan Gilroy and her husband, Michael, of Lynn; Elaine Johnson of Swampscott with whom she lived; Karen Johnson and her husband, Wayne Millen, of West Paris, Maine; and Kenneth T. Johnson and his wife, Mary, of Swampscott. She also leaves grandchildren Daniel Gilroy and wife Draga; Joel Gilroy and wife Bonni; Lindsay Gilroy; Jeremy Michelson; Jesse Millen-Johnson; Alex Cavalieri and Bailey Cavalieri; and Nick Johnson and Anja Johnson; great-grandchildren, Darby, Caden, Luke and David; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edward Winiarczyk, Jean Brown, and Jen Kalabokis.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 30, at 9 a.m. from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott, at 10 a.m. Burial at Swampscott Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, May 29 from 5 to 8 p.m.
