

Albert Samuel Nelson, 81, of Lynn, passed away on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019, at Salem Hospital. Albert, one of 15 children, was born on April 30, 1938, in Saint Andrews, Jamaica to the late Solomon and Brenda (Morrison) Nelson. He was the long-time significant other of Cheryl Burton, with whom he shared 35 years together.
Albert made his home in Lynn, MA after moving to the United States from Jamaica in 1972. Prior to moving to the U.S, he was a solider in the Jamaican Military. Albert was a retiree from GE of Lynn with 22 years of service. He was a proud member of IBE-CWA Local 201 where he also volunteered on a monthly basis.
Albert loved his family and friends and they loved him. He was an avid gardener and had a love for sports, particularly cricket. He enjoyed a good game of dominos, but his favorite past time was taking road trips with his beloved Cheryl to Foxwoods where he loved to relax and play poker.
Albert leaves behind his daughter, Andrea Nelson and his grandson, Javon Jackson of Michigan; he was the father of the late Yvette Nelson who passed away in 1996; he also leaves his significant other Cheryl Burton of Lynn; his sisters Voila “Princess” Nelson, Daphne Brown and Liletthe Robinson, all of New York; Icilda Campbell from England; Gloria Morganite, Louise Howell, Eva Francis and Blossom McDonald, all of Jamaica; his brothers Vincent Nelson, Licidious Nelson and Egbert Nelson all of Jamaica, several nieces and nephews including Melva Armstrong of Jamaica; Debbie Harrigan of New York; Michael “Junior” McDonald of Texas; Cheryl’s children, Craig Burton, Todd Burton, and Kristen Morant; and her grandchildren, Todd Burton Jr., Isaiah Robinson, Autumn Morant, and Craig Burton Jr., all of Lynn, and many dear friends. The Nelson Family would also like to extend a special thank you to Gina Grandberry and Diane Collins.
Albert’s visiting hours will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Saturday, December 14th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Repass will held at the Community Brotherhood, 15 Coburn St, Lynn, MA 01902 immediately after the services.
