
Alice Freeman, age 95 years, a former resident of Putnam Farms Assisted Living in Danvers, and a longtime resident of Lynn, died Saturday April 14, at the Cedar Glen Care and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers, after a lengthy illness. Born in Sullivan, Maine on May 2, 1916, she was the daughter of the late George I. and Agnes E. (Urquhart) Freeman. Alice attended schools in Brewer, ME and graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1933. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Art from the New England School of Art in Boston, Class of 1939. Miss Freeman was a freelance artist, illustrating newspaper ads for leading department stores and children's text books as well as commercial fashion artwork. In 1965 she illustrated a toddler board book entitled Baby's Lullabies and over the years did portrait work and landscape watercolor paintings. She was a member of St. Stephen's Memorial Episcopal Church. In her spare time Alice was an avid reader, sewed and built furniture for her home. Alice shared her love for traveling on cruises with her beloved sister Isobel, which included such places as Europe, Egypt, and many islands. She was the sister of the late Isobel J. Freeman, who died Feb. 12, 2011. She is survived by two cousins Susan Urquhart of Ashfield, MA and Bonnie Urquhart of Readfield, ME.
