Alice M. Kelso Powers

Mrs. Alice M. (Kelso) Powers, age 84, of Methuen, formerly of Lynn, died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Powers, Jr. with whom she shared 25 years of marriage.

Born in Cambridge, Alice was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Toland) Kelso. Alice was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School Class of 1946. She was employed with Sears and Roebuck Company for 18 years. Above anything else in life, Alice loved spending time with her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a well loved person who will be deeply missed.

She was the mother of Catherine M. Hyslip and her husband Mark of Methuen, and of the late Paul J. Powers, the grandmother of Emily and Anna Hyslip. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her siblings, Andrew Kelso, Jean O’Brien, William Kelso, James Kelso and Jack Kelso.

Mrs. Powers’ Funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Monday at 9:00AM. Funeral Mass at St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn at 10:00AM. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday from.2-6PM.
