Allison Shaw

LYNN- Allison “Al” Shaw of Lynn, 83 died Saturday, September 19, 2015, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Raney) Shaw. Born and raised in Lynn, Al was the son of the late Roscoe Shaw and the late Alyce (Hatch) Shaw. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951-1955. He served on the U.S.S. Salerno Bay and the U.S.S. Wright CVL 49 during the Korean War. He also was a D.A.V. Al was an avid golfer! He taught himself to play golf at the age of 12 while working as a caddy at Tedesco Country Club. Al started a family Golf Tournament with friends and family (The Shaw Invitational) that has been active for over 30 years, and will be carried on. He was retired from Arthur D. Little’s Inc. of Cambridge. Al pitched for the American Legion Post 291 baseball team, and later became the President of the N.S.B.U. Association in Lynn. His greatest love was for his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 61 years, He leaves two daughters, Karen Cuthbert and her husband Thomas of Lynn and Diane Stilian and her husband James of Hampstead, N.H. He was predeceased by his son Steven Shaw and his brothers, Richard and William Shaw. He also leaves seven grandchildren: Jessica Tobin, Brian Cuthbert and wife Jennifer, Jason Cuthbert and his wife Moira, Colleen Cuthbert, Melissa Stilian, Shawna Stilian, and Nicholas Stilian, and four great-grandchildren: Alyah Tobin, Hailey and Emery Cuthbert, and Joseph(Joey) Cuthbert.

Service information: Al’s funeral will be held at the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Wednesday, September 23rd, at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
