

Clare H. (Kennedy) Hegan, age 90, of Peabody, formerly of Lynn and Cleveland, OH, died Monday, March 25, 2013 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was the beloved wife of the late James E. “Jim” Hegan, former player of the Cleveland Indians and coach of the New York Yankees.
Born in Lynn, Clare was the daughter of the late John and Theresa (Cullen) Kennedy. She graduated from Lynn English High School Class of 1940. Following high school, Clare attended Nursing School at Salem Hospital. Clare was an avid tennis player and golfer. She was a devout Communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and was always in attendance in the Daily Mass. Clare was a very kind and selfless person who was dedicated to her family. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her sons, Mike Hegan and his wife, Nancy (McNeill) of Hilton Head, SC, Patrick Hegan of Utah, daughter, Cathy Hegan of Winchester. Also survived by grandchildren, Shawn, J.J., and P.J. and great-grandchildren, Jack, Casey, Brigit and Connor. Several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Bob Kennedy and wife Phyllis of Lynnfield, the late Mary Kennedy and the late Jane Flannigan.
Mrs. Hegan’s Funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Tuesday at 11AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield at 12PM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Catholic Charities North, 117 North Common Street, Lynn, MA 01902.
