David Lee Howard, 77, of Peabody, formerly of Lynn, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. He was the devoted husband of Jean (Rehal) Howard, with whom he just celebrated their 51 year anniversary.
Born in Lynn on June 1, 1942 to the late Ralph and Grace (Lyons) Howard. David attended St. Pius V School and later went to Lynn English High School, graduating with the Class of 1960. Following graduation, David attended Bentley School of Accounting where he earned his Associates degree.
David began his career in Payroll at Honeywell in Newton. He later joined the Tax Department in Waltham as a Tax Specialist. During Tax Season, after work, David worked for C. Ernest Trefry Tax Service in Lynn preparing tax returns for customers. He later joined Avon Plumbing Supply in Wakefield as an Accountant where he made many friends while working there for the past 30 years; friends he considered his extended family. Despite his age, anytime someone asked him about retirement, without hesitation he would shout “NO WAY!”
Apart from work successes, his proudest moment was when he married the love of his life, Jean on January 25, 1969. A year later, David and Jean gave birth to their son David and the Howard Family was complete. David loved his family, his home, and was proud of what he accomplished over the years. David was a quiet, gentle, giving person who will be missed by many. He loved spending time with his friends and his weekly golf games.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jean, his cherished son David; his dear niece and nephews Michelle Clarke, Scott Rehal and his wife Brenda and Kevin Rehal and his wife Angela; his brother-in-laws Frank “Butch” Rehal, and Richard Rehal and his wife Lina; and his cousins, Tom & Judy Egan, Joe & Theresa Miceli, Jim & Edie Clooney, Janice Clooney and Joan Ottaway. In addition to his parents, Ralph and Grace (Lyons) Howard, David is predeceased by his brother Ralph Howard.
David’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn.
