

Diane grew up in Lynn, graduated from Lynn English High School and Lynn Hospital School of Nursing. She received a Bachelors of Arts from UMASS Boston. Prior to her illness, she worked as a Nurse at various Boston hospitals, and as a Patient Care Coordinator at Salem Hospital. Diane was also the head of the Family Worker Department at the North Shore Consortium for Special Needs. She was a contributing author to the book, Steps to Independence, Teaching Everyday Steps to Special Needs Children. Diane cherished her time spent with family and friends.
Diane is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Sally and James Moynihan of Lowell, Maureen Ledrich of Castleberry, FL, Gerry and Karen Murphy of Kirkland, WA, Arthur and Lynn Murphy of Ludington, MI, her sister-in-law, JoAnn Murphy of Fort Worth, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close friends and second family, Susan and David Craven and their children, Erin, Kelly and Scott, and their grandchildren, Nancy and Chuck Carroll, and close friend, Anne and Steve Nilsen.
Diane was predeceased by her brother James Murphy and her nephew John Murphy of Lake Worth, TX, and her beloved nephew James Moynihan of Chelmsford, and his longtime partner, Jonathan Lamson.
The family wishes to thank all of Diane’s care team at Brigham and Women’s hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Center for their care and compassion shown to her over the years.
There will be no Visiting Hours. A Memorial Mass in Diane's name will be held on Monday, May 26th at 8am, at St. Margaret's Church, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell, MA.
