Doris May (Hollingsworth) Hefler, age 95, of Nahant, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Kaplan Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late William and Marguerite (Lavender) Hollingsworth. Born on September, 26, 1928, Doris was a lifelong resident of Nahant, graduating from Lynn English High School, she then went on to get married and raise her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick James Hefler Sr., with whom she shared 35 years of marriage. Doris was the loving companion to Robert "Bo" Bettencourt and she worked with him at Bettencourt Furniture in Peabody for over 20 years until her retirement.
Doris loved her family above all and cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved the beach especially sitting at the Wharf Park watching the waves.
Doris was the wonderful mother to Frederick "Jimmy" Hefler Jr., Doreen Ducker and her husband Robert, and Dale Cullinan and her husband Michael, the grandmother to five grandchildren, the great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren, and the sister to Kathleen Reynolds and Frances Tucker. She is predeceased by her brothers Kenneth Hollingsworth and Cecil Hollingsworth, her sisters Thelma Ross and Margaret Taylor, and her grandson James McCarthy.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Doris' Graveside Service on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11:00 am in Greenlawn Cemetery, 195 Nahant Road, Nahant.
