Eleanor B. Mitchell

Mrs. Eleanor B. (Peary) Mitchell, age 70, of Lynn, died Wednesday in a local nursing home after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Bruce L. Mitchell, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage.

Born in Chelsea, Eleanor was the daughter of the late William H. and Amelia (Burdon) Peary. She was a graduate of Saugus High School Class of 1962 and resided in Lynn for the past 38 years.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as an ironer and presser for Calendar Linen. She was a former member of the Cliftondale Congregational Church of Saugus. In earlier years, she was involved with Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts as a troop leader. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and traveling to Pennsylvania and Virginia.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her children: Robert Mitchell of Lynn and Carrie Spaulding and her husband Eric of Virginia. She was the loving Grandmother to Alexandria and Samantha Spaulding. She was the mother of the late Bruce Mitchell, Jr. and sister to the late Herbert “Brad” Peary, Susan Ultsch, Edith Lindsey, Joan Stalford and Selina Hart.

Eleanor’s Funeral Service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 2-4 & 6-8PM.
