

Ellen M. Veiga, age 68 of Lynn passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was born on January 23, 1949 in Boston, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Savasta) Capezzuto. She was raised and educated in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop high school, class of 1967.
Ellen was the beloved wife of William D. Veiga Sr. She was the loving mother of Cheryl Veiga-Wilkins and her husband, Tom of Beverly, Denise Veiga and her fiancé, William Brown of Abington, and William D. Veiga Jr. and is wife, Kelly of Winthrop; the beloved grandmother of Miranda, Anthony, and Cara Marsi of Lynn.
Ellen worked at Eastern Bank for many years before she started working in the accounts payable department at Mass Eye and Ear for 13 years before she retired. She enjoyed reading her romance novels, camping seasonally at Silver Lake Park Campground in Belmont, New Hampshire, as well as being a huge Bruins fan and loved watching the hockey games. Ellen also enjoyed crafting (she could make almost anything), and her time as a neighborhood Girl Scout leader at St. Pius V in Lynn for many years.
Ellen’s Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St Pius V Parish, 215 Maple St, Lynn. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held on Monday October 9th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904.
