

Frank Joseph Zipper Jr age 91 of Peabody died peacefully on Thursday May 2, 2024 in the hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane (McHugh) from 1960 until her death in 1993; the loving father of Kathleen Eckman of Beverly, Edward & Andrea of Stoneham, Frank III and Mary Kate of Salem, and Ellen Willard of Billerica; the devoted grandfather of Heather, Brendan, Bradley and his wife Emily, Jake, Jessica, Rachel, Meaghan and Troy.
Frank was born in Boston on April 4, 1933 to the late Frank and Gladys (Anderson Crawford) Zipper. He was predeceased by his siblings Ruth Lang Cole, Mary Hinman, Robert, Paul, James and Edward Zipper.
He attended Lynn Public schools before serving in the National Guard and United States Army, where he served in Germany. Frank started his own business, Frank Zipper Heating & Air Conditioning, before going to work at General Electric in Lynn until his retirement. He served for 30 years on the Lynn Board of Appeals where he was a chairman and for 24 years on the Lynn Water & Sewer where he was a commissioner.
Frank had a love of boating which he passed on to his family, taking his wife Mary Jane on his boat on their first date. Many family vacations were spent on various lakes throughout New England including Lake Winnipesaukee. He loved waterskiing, which he taught to his children. He enjoyed traveling, golf & cross-country skiing with his wife. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren attending many of their various events. Frank will be remembered for being a smart, kind, caring and a generous man who always put others first.
Friends and family are invited to Frank’s visitation on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
