

Mr. Irving C. Brown, Jr., age 93, of Lynn, died on Wednesday, Dec. 28th at a local nursing home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Edythe S. (Perry) Brown, to whom he had been married for 69 years.
Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Irving C. and Elizabeth T. (Glass) Brown. He graduated from Lynn English High School and lived in Lynn for all of his life.
Irving was a WWII veteran and served in the U. S. Army Air Forces. He was a member of Capt. William G. Shoemaker Post 345 American Legion.
He worked for the former Lynn Sand & Stone for many years and retired in 1984. He was a member of Laborers’ International Union of North America Local 290, AFL-CIO and for over 15 years served as Shop Steward. He then worked for Filene’s, which became Macy’s, at the North Shore Mall in Peabody for 13 years.
Irving was a member of the First Universalist Church in Salem.
In addition to his wife he leaves a son Leslie I. Brown and his wife Alane of Boynton Beach, FL, a cousin Clifford Brown and his wife Sandra of Peabody, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was the brother of the late Donald Brown.
Funeral services will be private, with arrangements by the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Donations in his memory may be made to The American Legion, Room 546-2, State House, Boston, MA 02133.
