

Judith Karen Stanford, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on April 29,1944, in Lynn, Karen was the devoted daughter of Joseph Francis and Mary Geraldine (Lannon) Stanford. The oldest daughter of nine children, she is survived by her sisters Kathryn and Christine, and her brothers Robert, Joseph, Thomas, and Daniel. Karen was predeceased by her loving parents and her beloved siblings Geraldine and James. She will be fondly remembered by her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews who will continue to cherish her memory.
Karen graduated from high school at the Academy of Mary Immaculate in Wichita Falls, Texas and continued her education at Northern Montana College in Havre, Montana, where she earned her degree in education.
She began her teaching career in Long Island, New York, before joining the Department of Defense as a middle school math teacher at Rhein-Main Air Force Base in Germany. During her decades-long career in Germany, Karen developed a deep appreciation for European history, landscape, and culture. Her journey as an educator later took her to Okinawa, Japan, where she completed her final year of teaching before retiring. Following her retirement, Karen returned to Nahant, where she cared for her parents in their final years.
Karen was very talented and enjoyed painting, crocheting and creating in-laid wood designs, among other hobbies. She also cherished her two beloved “puppy dogs”, Muffin and Tori.
Karen was a presence of strength who was never afraid to speak her mind, and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Karen’s wishes were for a private celebration of life with family rather than a public gathering.
Though deeply missed, the memories she leaves behind will forever remain in our hearts.
