Mrs. Joan M. Welch

Mrs. Joan M. (St. Hilaire) Welch, age 87, of Lynn, died peacefully at Union Hospital with her family by her side on Friday, November 11, 2011. Mrs. Welch was the beloved wife of the late Retired Lynn Firefighter John T. Welch with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

Joan was born in Beverly on October 18, 1924. Prior to starting a family, she was employed with the United Shoe. Joan and her husband were long time Communicants of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield. She was a very kind hearted person who always put others before herself. Joan was a loving wife and mother who will be deeply missed.

Joan was the devoted mother of Jack Welch of Lynn and Nancy (Welch) Harris and husband, Patrick of Woburn. Also surviving is her sister, Patricia Mahoney of Beverly, several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Teddy. In addition to her husband, Joan was predeceased by her sisters Ruth Butler and Marion McKenzie and her dog, Sam.

Joan’s funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn on Wednesday at 9AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 17 Grove St., Lynnfield at 10AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8PM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
