

Robert Joseph “Joe” Lang, 78 years old of Lynn, passed away peacefully at Salem Hospital on Tuesday April 22nd surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Born in Boston, but spending his entire life in Lynn, he was the beloved son of the late Esther (Pefine) Brown and Archie Brown. He graduated from Lynn English High School in 1964 and spent a number of years in the United States Navy stationed on the USS Stickell, also serving a year in Vietnam. After the Navy, Joe met his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Donna (Murphy) Lang.
Joe spent his years working as a car cleaner and an engineer for the Boston and Maine railroad, from there he spent a few years working for Robert’s Cleaners in Lynn, and lastly as a janitor for Holy Family Church which he loved. After retirement, he spent his days at Nina’s Market in Lynn making coffee, organizing newspapers, stocking Shelves and losing his shirt playing scratch tickets.
In addition to his wife Donna, he is also survived by his four children and his 10 grandchildren: Robert Andrew “Andy” Lang his wife Janine of Lynn and their two children Andrew and Dillon; Joseph Lang and his wife Lori of Salem; Andrea O’Brien her husband Brendan of Lynn and their five children Alexis, Alivia, Molly, Thomas and Clara; and Jeffrey Lang and his wife Jaclyn of Peabody and their three children twins Dallas and Boston, and Savannah. He also leaves his Brothers-in-law Richard Brown and David Murphy, his godson Kevin Kaminski, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his cherished sisters Roberta Rust and Rose Brown and his sister-in-law Nancy Murphy.
The Family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Salem Hospital for the kindness they showed Joe during his final days (especially Davenport 8) Mike and Denise Thibault for their compassion and helpfulness they have always shown Joe, The Kaminski Family and the entire Toomey’s and Robert’s Cleaners family for their loving support, and lastly Baseem Nseir and everyone at Nina’s Market for the love and appreciation they had for Joe.
Joe’s visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His funeral will be held from Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 30. 2025 at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM Holy Family Church, 21 Bessom Street, Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Church.
