

Joseph P. Doherty, age 92 of Plaistow, NH, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Kathryn (Carey) Doherty, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Somerville to the late Fredrick H. and Helen L. Doherty. Joseph proudly served his country during the Korean War in the Unites States Marines. Following his service, he worked as a Master Baker for Hostess Cake and then a Maintenance worker for the Sacred Heart Church in Lynn and finally the Boston Public Library until his retirement in 1996.
In his free time, Joseph especially loved to spend time with his family, dining out & watching old Movies, Joseph was a diehard Red Sox & Patriots fan and loved watching sports with his family.
Joseph was formerly from Lynn and loved the city and people that were so good to him and his family over the years.
We have been blessed and honored to have him as our Father, a truly honest decent person who instilled a hard work ethic and strong values to his children that made him proud.
Joseph is survived by his children, David S. Doherty and his wife Nancy of Plaistow, NH, Paul R. Doherty and his wife Nancy of Lynn and Joseph P. Doherty and his wife Judy of Peabody, Lorraine R. Wilcox and her husband Don of Upton and Joanne M. Power and her husband Mark of Tewksbury. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, he will also be sorely missed by his dog Kaia who was faithfully by his side to the end.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph is predeceased by his daughter Nancy A. Doherty, who is loved and missed every day.
Family and friends are invited to attend Joseph’s visitation on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His funeral service will follow on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
