Lawrence E. Benedict

Mr. Lawrence E. Benedict, age 67, of Lynn, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Peabody. He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Trowel) Benedict with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.

Mr. Benedict was born in Lynn, MA to the late Edmund and Kathleen (Foley) Benedict. He was a lifelong resident of Lynn and a 1963 graduate of Newman Preparatory School in Boston. Larry was employed with New England Telephone and later Verizon for 29 years, retiring in 1998. He was a proud member of the New England Telephone Pioneers, a communicant of Holy Family Church and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #70 of Lynn. Larry was an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his sister, Anne Cunningham and husband, Scott of Freedom, NH; brother-in-law’s, Laurence and wife, Joan Trowel of Cincinnati, OH, Richard and wife, Stephanie Trowel of North Reading; sister-in-law, Janice Trowel of Manchester, NH. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Benedict’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn on Tuesday at 9AM. Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, 26 Bessom St., Lynn at 10AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours Monday from 3-7PM.
