Lena R. Ventura

Born in Lynn, Lena was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Filomena (Basile) Brienza. She attended Lynn Schools and was a lifelong resident of Lynn.

Prior to her retirement in 1985, Lena worked as Maintenance Technician for the Lynn Public Schools, working primarily at the Ford Elementary School. She was a late member of Local #1736. Lena enjoyed bingo, drawing and sketching, and various other crafts.

She leaves 6 daughters; Rita Dunleavy and her husband Bob of Beverly, Linda Ventura of Lynn, Judith Ventura of Exeter, NH, Carol Nelson and her husband Harold of Hampton, NH, Joanne Caron and her husband Gary of Rollinsford, NH and Virginia Serven and her husband Larry of Farmington, NH; 3 sons, Richard Ventura and his wife Anne of Lynn, Guy Ventura and his wife Laura of Saugus and Anthony Ventura of Peabody; and 1 brother, Michael Brienza of Middleton. Lena is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Walter “Meatball” Ventura Jr., grandmother to the late Alexander Dunleavy and sister to the late Frank, Fred and Nicholas Brienza and Mary Vizena.

Visitation will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Friday from 9:30-11:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 12:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. At Lena’s request, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
