

Mr. Max L. Mathis, age 92, of Lynn, died Thursday night in a local nursing home following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Immacula (Jean) Mathis, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, Max was the son of the late Alphonse and Clara (Cadet) Mathis. He previously lived in New York before moving to Lynn in 1971.
Prior to his retirement, Max worked as a truck driver and a machine assembler. He enjoyed reading the bible, watching Boston Catholic Television, listening to the Haitian Radio Station and watching soccer games.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Maryse Mathis of Upstate, NY, Jocelyne Antoine and her husband Benisson of Orlando, FL, Max Mathis, Jr. and his wife Gertha of Atlanta, GA, Yves Mathis and his wife Virginia of Lynn, Fritz C. Mathis and his wife Marie Viola of Lynn and Nicole Mathis of Lynn. He was the brother of Pierre Cadet of Atlanta, GA and the late Soune Cadet. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.
Max’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 8 South Common St. Lynn, at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8PM.
