

Pamela Mae (Brewster) Downing, born on the New Year of 1953 in Lynn, passed away the morning of Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the age of 72 surrounded by loved ones. She was a lifelong resident of Lynn, attended Lynn English High School, and took pride in her steel work at both General Electric and Eastern Tool. She passed away after a sudden and short battle with cancer.
She was a strong, tough mother to – Laura Paul (Cook) and her husband Edward Paul residing in Dexter, Maine; Stacey Tobin (Cook) residing in Wakefield; and Danielle J. Downing and her partner Christine Murray who reside in Lynn.
She was cherished by her loving husband James W. Downing Jr., and by her best friend and sister Bertha (“Patty”) Liberge, her grandchildren William Moran, Hayleigh Moran, Anthony Garland, Raymond Garland, and Pamela Vashon (McCarthy), and all six of her great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents Harry and Laura Brewster(Merryman), her brother Steven Brewster,and by her sisters Laura “Jean” Gilbert and Nancy Burns.
Pamela will be remembered for her love of Christmas, cooking, mysteries, and excitement of the unknown. Pamela carried a fire that refused to be dimmed. Born at the beginning of the New Year, she faced life with courage, grit, and a heart wide enough for everyone she loved. Pamela leaves a legacy of strength, love, laughter, and fierceness. She lives on in all who carry an ember of her fire.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday December 1st. from 10AM to 12PM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a Funeral Service at 12PM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
