Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Ralph L. Wade Sr. and Ellen T. (Linehan) Wade. He was raised in West Lynn, was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School Class of 1971 and resided here for most of his life before moving to Plaistow in the 1980s. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Merrimack College and his Medical Degree for the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, graduating Summa Cum Laude in the Class of 1979.
He was a teacher and lecturer at the UMASS-Worcester Medical Center. He also worked at NSMC-Salem Hospital, Atlantic Care Medical Center, North Shore Trauma Center (formerly Lynn Hospital) and also the former Hale Hospital in Haverhill. He was a compassionate and caring physician who saved many lives working as a board certified Fellow of emergency medicine for over 15 years.
In his spare time, he had a passion for baseball. He was an umpire and served both Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire as Vice President of training and education for the Merrimack Valley Umpire Association (MVUA) since 2001. He was also a member of the Greater Lawrence Baseball Umpire Association (GLBUA). For the last 6 years, he served as program coordinator and taught paramedic technology at Northern Essex Community College in Lawrence.
He leaves his brother, John S. Wade Sr. and his wife Gail of Danvers and his sister, Denise Nardone and her husband Edward of Lynn. Also survived by his 3 nephews, Edward A. Nardone Jr. and his wife Kim of Danvers, John S. Wade Jr. of Danvers, Spencer J. Wade of Danvers, and his 1 niece, Jessica E. Nardone and her wife Allison of Salem. He was the great uncle to Edward Nardone III and Victoria Nardone and is further survived by many cousins and friends.
His Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Friday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Lynn at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be private. Visiting Hours Thursday 2-4 & 7-9PM.
