

Raymond Gerard Armstead Sr., age 84 of Claymont, DE, formerly of Boston and Middleton, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Francine (Hearns) Armstead, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Raymond was the son of the late Robert and Catherine (Wooten) Armstead. He grew up and was raised by his family in Boston. He proudly served the United States Army during the Vietnam War and worked for the Boston Police Department for 29 years.
One of Raymond’s greatest legacies was the love he poured into the numerous foster children who passed through his home. He gave each of them a place to feel safe, valued and deeply loved and cared for.
He not only received numerous citations and awards throughout his career but assisted other communities as well as lecturing at schools. His top 3 of the many awards he was proud of were the Boston Medal of Honor Recipient in 1979, Bank of Boston Making Boston a 21st Century Leader Award in 1997, and the Boston Fellow Award in 1990.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Francine Armstead, his devoted children Adrena (Holly) Langley, Yolanda Sanders and her husband DeWayne Sanders, Lee Spencer, Candice Denton, Mamit Kefei, son in-law Willy Reynoso and daughter-in-law Elvera Depina. He is also the cherished grandfather to many grandchildren and great grand-children and the loving brother to Robert, Roger, Ronald, Richard, Slyvia, Kay, Barbara and Joan. He was loved by his family and many friends and coworkers.
He is predeceased by his daughter Chemann M. Armstead and his son Fallen Hero TFC Raymond G. Armstead, Jr.
Raymond’s visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery 82 Maple Street, Middleton. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Delaware Hospice who cared for him for the last 22 months at www.delawarehospice.org/give.
