

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late George and Barbara (Barry) Aikins. He grew up in Lynn and lived in Lynn for the greater part of his life.
For three years he served with the Army National Guard.
Dick worked as a truck driver for several companies including West Lynn Creamery and for the International Ice Cream Company of Boston. Before retiring, he worked part-time as a driver and dispatcher for Tom’s Taxi Company of Lynn.
In addition to his wife, he was the father of Richard G. Aikins, Jr. of Peabody, Michael R. Aikins of Hanover, Joseph G. Aikins of Boxford, and Karen M. Goldman of Uxbridge; the step-father of John LoPresti and his wife Cindy of Naples, FL, Dawn LoPresti of Beverly, Lisa (LoPresti) Faraci and her husband Arthur of SC, Anthony LoPresti and his wife Caroline of Saugus, and Angela LoPresti of Beverly; the brother of Cheryl Steer of Salem, and the brother-in-law of Marlene Aikins of Rockledge, FL. He also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gary Aikins and Susan Croteau.
Visiting hours will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, on Wednesday November 5th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
