Born in Saugus, he was the son of the late Antonio and Gertrude (Burns) Flammia. He grew up in Saugus and lived in Lynn since 1962.
He served in the U. S. Army from 1957 to 1959, and remained in the active Army Reserves until 1964.
Richard was a union pile driver and worked out of Union Local 56, Boston.
He was an avid Boston sports fan.
He leaves one son Richard F. Flammia and his significant other Debra Bell of Lynn, a brother Paul Flammia and his companion Kay Meter of Revere, two grandchildren Richard M. Flammia and his wife Jenny of Leominster, and Vanessa Riley of Billerica, a great-granddaughter Lilyann Maria Flammia, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Antonio Flammia, Fredrick Flammia and Charles Flammia.
A private graveside service was held in the Vietnam Veterans Lot of Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Arrangements by Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn.
