

Ruth Miriam (Hayes) Tseki, age 91, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at BrookMeadow at Cobb Corner Assisted Living Facility in Stoughton after a period of declining health. Born in Lynn on July 14,1933, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Leroy Hayes and Alice Gertrude (Jennings) Hayes. She attended Lynn Public Schools, including Pickering Junior High and Lynn English High School graduating with the Class of 1950. She was also a graduate of Salem State College known then as Salem Teachers College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Throughout her life she was very active with her class at Salem State College and planning their reunions and she was an active member of the Teacher's Honor Society. Ruth spent her entire professional career working in education with the Lynn School Department starting at the Ingalls School as a first grade teacher. She later received her certification as a Reading Specialist and continued in that role in several Lynn Elementary Schools. Ruth would later add Assistant Principal to her resume. While teaching Ruth began a second career as a Certified Financial Planner and Advisor and succeeded in that role as well. She advised many Lynn education professionals in planning for their retirement. Her family was extremely proud of the fact that she passed the grueling Series 7 Exam all while she was still teaching.
Ruth met her future husband Victor L. Tseki who was a sixth grade teacher at the Ingalls School and they later married on August 25, 1956. Ruth and Vic shared over 60 years of marriage while raising and caring for their two children. Ruth loved to travel and visited many countries. She loved traveling with her friends and going on cruises with her husband and daughter. Ruth and Vic retired to Naples, Florida and became full time residents. They spent many wonderful years there. They were active with the Naples Boston College Club and the Salem State Club and participated in representing their colleges in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Ruth loved hosting both her children and granddaughter when they came to vacation in Naples. She especially loved having her beloved granddaughter Hayley visit her in Florida and taking her to the pool and the beach. She delighted in watching Hayley grow up and celebrating her accomplishments. Her granddaughter was her pride and joy.
Ruth is predeceased by her beloved husband Victor L. Tseki who passed away on February 17, 2017. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Tseki) McManus and her husband Paul J. McManus Jr. of Stoughton and her son David L. Tseki and his wife Julie (Campbell) Tseki of Peabody, her only beloved granddaughter Hayley M. McManus of Stoughton, her brother-in-law Robert Thomson of Lynn and her sister-in-law Susan Langan of Marblehead as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her late sister Lucille (Hayes) Tagney and her late brother Robert V. Hayes.
Ruth’s family would like to acknowledge the loving care received by her longtime private caregivers Eleonore Oreste and Elvida Cantave.
A Visitation for Ruth will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the Cuffe- McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
