

Sigfredo “Freddy” Rivera, age 80 of Lynn, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Regina del Carmen (Rosero) Rivera, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to the late Fernando Rivera and Trinidad Ruiz, Freddy was one of eight children who came to the United States as a young man, eventually settling in Lynn. It was there that fate and faith brought him together with his beloved pen pal, Carmen. Their lifelong partnership was filled with laughter, music, road trips and countless other memories.
Freddy proudly worked for General Electric, where he dedicated many years. Outside of work, his life was guided by his deep faith, he was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Lynn, where he served joyfully, and shared his warmth with everyone he met.
A man of creativity, passion and tradition, Freddy found joy in the music of his culture. He was known for leading festive parrandas, filling homes and hearts with song and celebration. He loved writing and reciting poetry, and could often be found happily playing his güiro, bringing energy and spirit to every gathering. His passion for his culture and community created memories that will echo in the hearts of those blessed to know him. He was also an avid dominoes player, teaching his grandchildren to play.
Freddy will be remembered for his humor, his warmth, his gift of bringing people together, and the joyful melodies he brought to life.
He is survived by his loving wife Carmen, his daughter Vicky, her husband Fernando and their children Valeria and Oliver, his daughter Sandra, her husband Luis Enrique and their daughter Solymar and his son Diego, his wife Chris and Diego’s daughters Julianna, her husband Corey and their sons Hunter and Greyson, and Alexis, her husband AJ and their son Easton, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing and a song that never fades.
Freddy’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut Street, Peabody, please meet at church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
