He was the husband of the late Katherine (Lefas) Vallas.
Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Kennedy) Vallas. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1942, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He attended Boston University and Boston University Law School. An Army Veteran of WWII, he served as a Technical Sergeant with the Panama Mobile Force and Security Command.
Ted is survived by his daughter Mary, and her husband Al Kiernan of Venice, Fla, his sons Charles of Wilmington and Basile of Santa Fe, NM, grandsons Justin and “Chuck” Vallas of Wilmington, sisters Bertha Lee of Port St. Lucie, FL, Frances Mosnicka of Waukesha, WI, and Louise Hoyt of Stoneham, brother Michael J. Lannon and wife Wendy of Bristol, NH, several nieces and nephews, and his longtime loving companion Tina Kennery of Peabody. Ted was also the brother of the late Charles Austin Vallas, and companion of the late Florence Cascone.
An avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, he also harbored interests in oil painting and wood-working. Ted was an editorial page columnist for the former Lynn Sunday Post for ten years. Prior to his retirement, he was well known as the dining room Manager at the Danversport Yacht Club for 14 years.
He was a longtime parishioner of St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Lynn, and member of the St. Vasilios, Peabody, Men’s Club.
He was the publicist for the original “Piece of the Rock”, Lynn High Rock Tower Preservation Committee, and for the Lynn English High School, Class of 1942 Reunion Committee. He was also a member of Mount Carmel Lodge, AF&AM, Lynn.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a funeral Service in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 South Common Street, Lynn at 10AM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 PM.
