

Wanda E. Thurman of Salem, formerly a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 in the NSMC – Union Hospital in Lynn. She was born in Boston on August 6, 1969 and was the daughter of the late Eddie L. and Marion J. (McGee) Thurman. Wanda was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. She later continued her education with North Shore Community College and attained an Associate’s Degree in Healthcare and Phlebotomy. Wanda worked for over 20 years as a phlebotomist with in the North Shore Medical Center and also did some teaching of phlebotomy. Wanda was a woman of very strong faith. She was heavily involved with her Church, Zion Church Ministries in Everett. She loved her church family, served as an adjutant to Bishop Elect Regina Shearer which gave her great joy. Wanda was a part of the church’s Praise and Worship team and sang with the choir. Music was essential in her life; she loved listening and singing her Gospel music. Wanda was also an avid reader and found pleasure in life’s simpler things. Wanda had a strong and deep love for her family and will be missed by all whose life she touched. Wanda is survived by her daughters; Cydney Thurman and Symone Thurman, both of Salem, her siblings; Eddie Thurman and his wife, Kathy and their children, Randolph and Travis, of Swampscott, Mona Taylor and her husband, Michael and their children, Kyle, Kyra, and the late Zuri, of Detroit, MI, Tony Thurman and his wife, Genie and their children, Jerron Green and Ava Thurman, of Lynn, and Rev. Tammy Thurman Brown and her children, Eddie, Fatima and Byron Brown, Jr., of Lynn, Mass and her grandchildren; Savion Thurman and Tyri Bascomb, her niece Tenysha, her step-mother Dorothy Washington of PA, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Wanda was preceded in death by her siblings, Parolee D. Thurman and Timothy W. Thurman. Celebration of Life service will be held at Zion Church Ministries, 757 Broadway, Everett MA, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the church one hour prior from 10 to 11 AM. Interment services will be held privately. Arrangements by the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN.
