Bill was the youngest of six children of the late Edward A. and Eileen D. (Malone) Cahill. He was a lifelong resident of Lynn, graduated from Lynn Vocational Technical Institute’s Auto Mechanics Program and studied at The Peterson School in Boston.
He retired as Chief Engineer at Tewksbury State Hospital. He also was employed at the Salem Power Plant and Boston Edison Power Station. He enjoyed buying, fixing and selling cars and especially loved the Cadillacs he owned. He loved his many Doberman pups whom most he named “Max” and was known for his sense of humor and his amusing stories.
Bill is survived by his son William “Lil Bill” Cahill, Jr. of Lynn and his partner Tara along with his three grandsons Billy, Brandon and Jackson. He is also survived by his brothers Michael Cahill of Lynn, Larry Cahill (Peggy) of Lowell, his sisters Eileen Moalli (Peter) of Lynn, and Tricia Jackson (Rich) of Fremont, NH along with eleven nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brother Jim. Billy lived a full life with many friends.
Our family is especially thankful for the friendship Bill shared with Bill Woods, Jr. of Lynn, along with the compassion he received at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Kaplan Hospice House during his last weeks.
