

LYNN—William “Bill” Edward Phillips passed away at the age of 96 on May 1, 2020 following a stay at Salem Hospital due to complications related to the Coronavirus. He was the beloved husband of the late Grace F. (Mathewson) Phillips.
Born in Boston, MA on August 14, 1923, Bill was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Cardinal) Phillips. He graduated from Revere High School in 1941, and then went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his military deployment, Bill worked as a drafting supervisor for General Electric in Lynn until his retirement. Along with his GE position, Bill worked as a taxi driver in Boston and also as a bartender at the former Towne Lyne House in Lynnfield.
When Bill wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially taking trips with his wife and children to their summer cottage in Raymond, New Hampshire. He also loved attending monthly family birthday parties and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, theatre performances, and dance recitals. Additionally, Bill was a devout parishioner at Sacred Heart Church, and an avid Red Sox fan throughout his lifetime. The many wonderful memories Bill created with his family and friends will live on through his admirable legacy.
Surviving William are his six daughters, Jacqueline Weeden and her late husband Richard of Lynn, Linda Upton and her husband Stephen of Lynn, Carol Scotina and her husband William of Peabody, Joanne Connor and her husband Robert of Lynn, Sheila Seaman and her husband Shawn of Lynn, June Blake and her husband Edward of Lynn; his 23 beloved grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
William was predeceased by his siblings, Ruth, Eileen, Richard, Marilyn (Phillips) Duggan, and Edward Phillips.
Arrangements: In adherence to the guidelines issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the CDC, services will be held privately.
