

Barbara went home surrounded by the love of her six children and dear friend Bob McGowan. She was welcomed to heaven by her husband, Clare Brockman, and her grandson, Kyle Patrick Smith, who both preceded her arrival in heaven and who, we are sure, were waiting to welcome her home. Barbara is survived by her children, Mary Root (William), Michael (Debbie), James, Janet Smith (Gregory), William (Debbie), and Debra Neeley. She is also survived by her brother, Philip Hall. Additionally, she leaves behind ten loving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Barbara was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on November 29th, 1931, She was one of nine children born to Allen Edward Hall and Dorothy Alice O’Neil. Barbara grew up with a strong Christian faith and a love of music. She played bassoon in the high school band and after graduation Barbara wanted to see more of the world. She joined the Marine Corps. to do just that, but the best laid plans often change. While in the Marine Corp she met the love of her life, Clare F. Brockman. Their love was undeniable and on July 12th, 1951 they were married. After leaving the Marines, Barbara and Clare settled in Ballard, a Seattle community where Clare grew up.
Barbara and Clare raised 6 children and built a wonderful life filled with love and family. Barbara worked for the Seattle School District as a kitchen manager for 23 years before she retired in the late 1980s. After leaving Ballard, Barbara and Clare moved to Everett, Sedro Woolley, and Lynnwood, but they eventually settled in Ephrata, Washington. Barbara was a strong, hardworking wife and mother. She faced anything life handed her with strength and grace. She loved her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone who she knew and loved, especially her six children.
